Microsoft has chosen to restrict backwards compatibility with its release of Windows 7. Gradebook Plus Windows Edition v8.1 is one of the many programs affected. This problem affects software written to Microsoft specifications to be compatible to all older versions of Window including Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows me, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista.

Here is what we know as of 01/11/2016.

Windows 7 Starter Edition

Gradebook Plus Windows Edition v8.1 should be able to run in this operating system. We have not yet been able to verify this yet. If you have Windows 7 Starter Edition, please contact EMA and let us know if you were successful running Gradebook Plus.

Windows 7 Home Premium Edition

There are many users upset with Microsoft for the decision not to offer backwards compatibility with Home Premium Edition. This decision is extremely unlikely to ever change.

Windows 7 Professional Edition and Ultimate Edition

Microsoft provides backwards compatibility by downloading software (Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC) to run older programs.. The software may be downloaded for free from Users have successfully run Gradebook Plus Windows Edition v8.1 using this software. This is similar to the solution Microsoft came up with for users of Windows Vista 64-bit operating systems by running Virtual PC 2007.
